New Investment Project in Uzbekistan: 200 MW HPP worth 500 Million dollars
The Andijan region of Uzbekistan and the Chinese company Sichuan Power Transmission & Transformation Construction have reached an agreement on the implementation of a major investment project in the field of hydropower. The total value of the project is estimated at $500 million.
The corresponding agreement was achieved during a meeting between the management of the Chinese company and the Khokim (Governor) of the Andijan region, which took place in Hunan Province as part of the Uzbek delegation’s working visit to the People's Republic of China. The project includes the construction of a new hydroelectric power plant (HPP) with a capacity of 200 megawatts, as well as the modernization of existing electrical substations in the region.
The cooperation is aimed at developing the energy potential of the Andijan region. The implementation of the project will allow for the introduction of advanced technologies, the expansion of the use of renewable energy sources, and the strengthening of the region's energy security by renewing networks and increasing environmental sustainability.
The Chinese company Sichuan Power Transmission & Transformation Construction has extensive and relevant experience related to the construction of hydroelectric power stations, but their primary specialization is not the construction of the dams themselves, but rather the creation of the entire electrical infrastructure for power transmission from the HPP. The company has significant work experience abroad (Ethiopia, Pakistan, Brazil, and other countries), where they have built power transmission lines (PTL) and substations, often for projects related to HPPs, helping to integrate new power plants (including hydro) into national energy grids.
