History of hydroelectric power stations of Uzbekistan: HPS-18 as part of the cascade of Nijne-Bozsuv HPS.

03.02.2023

HPS-18, located in the Tashkent region, is part of the unitary enterprise "Cascade of Nijne-Bozsuv HPS" and occupies a worthy place in the activity of the cascade.

HPS-18 is located on the second stage of the cascade, 20 km from Tashkent, in the Yangiyul district, directly under the headworks of the Nijne-Bozsuv irrigation canal. In turn, it is also the headworks (dam) of the HPS.

The HPS was built according to the projects of “Sredazhydroproject”. The author of the project is L. V. Talalov.

Construction work was carried out by "Chirchikstroy" in 1945-1950, and in June 1949 the HPS was put into operation.

In 1972, the turbines of the station were reconstructed.

At HPS-18, 3 units of 2.34 MW each are installed, the total capacity of the HPS is 7 MW. The units were put into operation in 1949-1950.

Each unit consists of a vertical turbine, type - FRC 245-VB 220, power - 185.5 round/min. At a water pressure of 10.5 m and a water flow of 25 m3/s, the rated power is 2340 kW, generator power is 3125 kVA, type VGS 325/49-32, pressure 6.3 kW.

Communication with the power system is carried out through a 35 kV substation. Open channel, length 325 meters, width 12 meters, depth 4.5 meters. Channel throughflow capacity of 90 m3/s.

Last year, in 2022, HPS-18 produced 14.4 million kWh of electricity.
