Issues of Energy Supply Improvement Considered
On January 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on improving energy supply and got acquainted with the presentation of plans for the hydropower industry.
In recent years, 27 projects worth $0.5 billion USD have been implemented in the energy industry and an additional 260 megawatts of generating engines have been created. The total capacity of the stations in the “Uzbekhydroenergo” system exceeded 2 thousand megawatts, thus 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas are saved annually.
This year, it is planned to put into operation 7 facilities and 10 micro HPS with a capacity of 197 megawatts. Work will also begin on the implementation of 8 promising projects and the construction of 50 micro HPS with a capacity of 438 megawatts.
250 promising sites for the construction of micro HPS have been identified. According to calculations, the new micro HPS will be able to generate 675 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. This will save 200 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.
At the meeting, measures for the stable supply of energy to the population were discussed. The President of the country paid special attention to the need to connect all available reserves and the absence of failure of the service life of future projects.
