Turkish Company Limak Plans to Build Hydropower Plants in Uzbekistan
On January 29, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov held a working meeting with Sezai Bacaksiz, founder of one of Turkey’s leading holdings, Limak. The key focus of the talks was the expansion of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of large-scale investment projects in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the prospects for joint initiatives. Particular attention was given to the development of the hydropower sector through public–private partnership mechanisms. Participants also explored opportunities to jointly prepare the necessary documentation to launch new projects. Attracting private capital and international expertise to the construction of hydraulic infrastructure was highlighted as an effective way to modernize the country’s energy system.
Representatives of Limak emphasized the company’s extensive experience in this field. To date, the Turkish holding has successfully implemented the construction of ten hydropower plants in Turkey. Both sides expressed confidence that this experience and technological know-how could be effectively adapted to Uzbekistan’s conditions, helping to improve the reliability and efficiency of local hydropower generation.
The meeting also highlighted the holding’s global performance indicators, demonstrating its financial strength and production capacity. The company’s annual revenue reaches $4.1 billion. Limak is a leader in Turkey’s construction sector and ranks among the world’s top 20 companies in its field.
Following the talks, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen cooperation. They agreed to continue practical consultations on specific projects, laying the groundwork for long-term and mutually beneficial partnership in the hydropower sector.
